Peony Bloom was born from a single petal — and a discovery that changed everything. Our founder traveled to Luoyang, China, where peonies have been cultivated since the Sui Dynasty (581–618 AD). Walking through fields of Yao Huang and Wei Zi — the legendary “King and Queen of Peonies” — it became clear: this was not just a flower. This was a living heritage.

For over 1,600 years, Luoyang has been the world’s peony capital. Its unique geography — latitude 34°N, the mineral-rich alluvial soil of the Yellow River floodplain, and four distinct seasons — creates growing conditions that no other region can replicate. The peonies that bloom here are larger, more fragrant, and richer in the active compounds that make them extraordinary in skincare.

In the Tang Dynasty (618–907 AD), Luoyang was the imperial capital. Court ladies infused peony petals into bath waters and pressed them into early beauty preparations — a tradition that survived in folk remedies for over a millennium. Peony Bloom is the modern expression of that ancient wisdom: the cold-process method preserves what the Tang court knew, while modern botanical science validates what they felt.

The Cold-Process Difference

Unlike mass-produced melt-and-pour soaps, every Peony Bloom bar is made using the cold-process method. We mix pure plant oils with sodium hydroxide at low temperatures, then let each bar cure naturally for 4 to 6 weeks. No external heat. No shortcuts. This slow, traditional process preserves the full potency of every botanical oil, butter, and petal we put in.
